“I can confirm the two of you are having a baby,” the doctor announces, a beaming smile on his face as he glances from us to Shawna and back again.

Tears well in my eyes, and I let out a half sob half laugh and look at my man. The look on his face is anything but happy from the way his jaw is set. “Fuse?” I murmur, his eyes coming to mine for a brief second before he stands, pulling out his phone in the process. A moment later, he looks at the doctor and Shawna again.

“Tell me, Dr. Sherman, Shawna, how did you do it?” Fuse demands, his voice cold.

“Fuse?” I call out, furrowing my brow.

“I’m sorry, I don’t understand. Do what?” Dr. Sherman asks, his brow furrowed.

Fuse cocks his head to the side and narrows his gaze to little slits as he looks at Shawna. “What was your game plan? Have my woman’s kid, then take it from her?”

The smile on Shawna’s face switches from one of pure happiness to full-on sinisterness. “It’s what she would deserve considering what she’s done.”

“What the hell is going on here?” I demand, coming to my feet.

Fuse ignores my question, keeping his gaze locked on Shawna as he also stands. “What she deserves? You’re full of bullshit.”

“Would someone care to explain what is going on here?” Dr. Sherman asks, his voice filling with anger.

“I’ll get to you in a moment, Doc,” Fuse states, not wavering in the least. “Now that you’ve confirmed for Lyrica and me that we’re expecting a child, the both of you will be taking a trip until our baby is born.”

“Fuse,” I snap and grip his bicep.

Fuse finally brings his gaze to mine as the doors open to his brothers stepping in along with Angelina. “Sorry, ma douce, I didn’t find out until after the procedure was done, and I wasn’t going to worry you more than you already were.”

“What’s going on?” I whisper, my chest constricting, making it hard for me to breathe.

“Shawna isn’t some woman who wants to carry our child for us out of the goodness of her heart. This is revenge, Ly,” he murmurs, pushing a stray hair from my face.

I glance from him to Shawna. “Why would he think that?” I ask as I really take a look at her. I mean really look into her eyes and take in her features.

“Because you took from me the only family I had left,” Shawna sneers, placing her hand over her stomach. “Now, I’ll be doing the same to you.”

No. No. No.

It can’t be.

“You’re Sean’s sister?” The question is barely more than a breath as I stumble back, shaking at the mere thought of Sean’s ghost finally catching up to me.

“Oh, yes, I’m his sister, and you’re the bitch that killed him,” Shawna seethes. “What he saw in you is beyond me. He was able to have any woman he wanted, me included, but he called me the last day anyone saw him and told me about you and how you were perfect, and he intended to make you his.
